If you are already a pilot, this will consist of parts of the Basic Fast Jet Training Introduction to Low Level Flying lesson. If you’ve not flown before, we’ll teach you enough so that you can fly yourself through parts of the iconic Mach Loop.

You can expect 2 hours and 15 minutes with your instructor, of which 1 hour 15 minutes is in the aeroplane and 50 minutes airborne. Your instructor will give you a 20-minute briefing, describing your route and how to fly the Marchetti in the valleys of Wales. You’ll then get kitted up with a flying suit, helmet and parachute, before heading out to your aircraft. After take-off you will head south west to Bala and Llyn Tegid, where you will enter low level and fly to Dolgellau. Your instructor will use the first lap of the loop to teach you how to fly the aircraft in the same manner that RAF pilots do. He’ll also point out the photography locations. Your instructor will then give control of the aircraft to you, so you can fly yourself round a second lap of the Loop.

You will then fly to Lake Vyrnwy, where your instructor will show you what minimum separation distance looks like, before climbing out of low level and heading back to Hawarden. If you wish, you can fly some aerobatic manoeuvres during the transit home. If traffic permits you will fly a visual run in and break, to land. After landing you will debrief and review your flight.

This trip is so much more than just a jolly around the Mach Loop.
